Venice
Under Canvas, Dorsoduro
A rio in Dorsoduro, afternoon. The gondoliers had finished for the day — or at least had paused. The boats sat in their mooring in that particular state of rest that working vessels have when the work is done: covered, lines taut, not quite still on the water.
The wall to the left was entirely covered in vine that had turned with the season. The gondolas were the same intense blue as the water under them. The building behind was painted that particular shade of ochre that Venice uses as a default. No element in the frame was arranged. Everything simply happened to be where it was.
